Lieberman’s wisdom

Intellectual Giants

Avigdor Lieberman, Foreign Minister of the State of Israel and head of the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu Party (the equivalent of the British BNP), is a hero of the Transatlantic Right, both in the United Kingdom and in the United States.

He is also the most limited politician that Israel has ever produced and never misses an opportunity to embarrass the Jewish State.  This would explain why, as time wore on, Lieberman lovers such as Daniel Pipes and Melanie Phillips simply stopped talking about him.  Even these intellectual whores of Israel couldn’t bring themselves do mention the non-Foreign Minister.

It is clear that Netanyahu is similarly embarrassed by his chief diplomat.  Lieberman is conspicuously absent from diplomatic activity and tends to have his official visits limited to Eastern Europe and southern Africa, where the damage he can inflict is no doubt much less.  Note that even during the Mubarak era this hard-line nationalist and racist (though himself an immigrant to Israel from Moldova) was never dispatched to Egypt – Israel’s most important neighbour.

This is the context in which Lieberman, the former nightclub bouncer and intellectual giant much loved by similar great minds such as Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer has found himself having to formulate some kind of response to the deteriorating relationship with Israel’s former vassal state.

He articulates the reason for Israel’s predicament thus:

“The Palestinian Authority, which constantly glorifies terror and incites against murderous attacks on innocent Israelis Thursday.

“The Palestinians are devoid of proper leadership and the only thing that unites Hamas rulers in Gaza Strip and the PA rulers in Ramallah is their hatred for Israel” [my emphasis]

Incredible!  The Palestinians hate Israel?  My heart bleeds.  Can’t one nation occupy, degrade and systematically humiliate another without incurring their hatred?

What, oh what, is the world coming to?
